Many of my wonderful blog friends were noting my...ahem...lack of posts the last few months and asked me about the downturn. They were very supportive when I told them the reason why I had slowed down my manic eating, cooking, and writing. And there was a reason, other than those enumerated back in September.
Might I introduce you to the reason why?

Foodie world, meet Puggle (his nickname -- after a baby platypus, not the pug/beagle designer mutt mix). Puggle in utero was a gourmand -- he gave me heartburn every time I attempted to eat fast food or prepared foods. He wanted fresh and made to order gourmet. As it happens, he dined at Gordon Ramsay's Petrus, had scones and tea at Wimbledon (from our London trip back in July), dinner in Paris and has sipped champagne and dined on caviar to bring in the New Year -- so all in all, for someone who's only 7 days old, he's managed quite a culinary bit in utero. Ex utero, it appears he hasn't changed much. He likes all organic and natural and he takes his time savoring every meal.
I swear I won't do (too many) pureed dishes.
Oh, congratulations! How wonderful! I hope there's more to Puggle than a foot, though.

don't speak too soon... i know of an individual who pureed her son's food. pureed gourmet food. none of the bottled stuff was ever good enough.
congratulations on the new baby.

Congrats on your new arrival! I have been using my pregnant appetite and energy to cook and blog, too- My own little lima bean was due 2 days ago-I guess he's still baking...any recipes to get labor started? Even pureed recipes can be fine-where would we be without butternut squash soup? Puggle has lovely feet and I'm sure you are doing a great job!

Danielle, thanks so much! Yes indeed there's more to Puggle than the foot -- 7 lbs more!
Chloe -- oh man. Pureed caviar, you think?!
Breadchick -- thank you thank you!
Tanna -- We're really excited (and grateful for a healthy baby).
Rebecca -- congratulations to you! I threatened to eat Mexican for lunch and bake a cake for two weeks to induce labor. That's what my aunt did with her first child.
Tami -- thank you!
Ivonne -- oh, with his early start, we're pretty sure we'll have some great eating along the way.
Jaspreet -- we're looking forward to those adventures!
Barbara -- it's a good year for babies!
Renee -- thank you! So good to hear from you!
Keiko -- oh you know, he's eaten with you already! Remember when we met at the Wolsey? We were pregnant then! :-)

Many congratulations!
If you breastfeed and eat a lot of different foods, the baby will taste a repertoire of flavors from the youngest age... perfect training for a proper gourmet.
